GENESIS
The primary aim of KVS is to provide uninterrupted Education to the wards of the Central Govt Officials and the Defence Personnel at the All India Level. Thus KV No.1, Madurai came into being as one of the 50 schools started in the year 1966.

To provide a safe and homelike atmosphere for children. To teach students the important values of life like honesty, humility and humanity. To teach children to respect parents, teachers and all elders. To instil cultural values and patriotism. To dream big and strive to achieve their highest potential.

भारत की स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के दौरान देश के महान कवि सुब्रमण्य भारती का कहना था कि सच्चे अर्थ में स्वतंत्रता हासिल करने के लिए तीन चीजें जरूरी हैं. पहला है शिक्षा; दूसरा है शिक्षा; और तीसरा भी शिक्षा ही है। नालंदा और तक्षशिला से लेकर वर्तमान शैक्षिक व्यवस्था तक का भारतवर्ष के हजारों सालों की परंपरा और संस्कृति ने सदैव शिक्षा को एक ऐसे औजार के रूप में स्वीकारा है जिससे मनुष्य अपने को सामाजिक, सुसभ्य और मानवीय बनाता है। केंद्रीय विद्यालय संगठन भारत के इस घनी परंपरा का वह मशालवाहक है, जो शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में युगीन परंपराओं को आत्मसात करते हुए आधुनिक युग के शैक्षिक नवाचरों से देश की नई पीढ़ी के निर्माण के दायित्वपूर्ण कार्य का सफलतापूर्वक निर्वाह करते आए हैं। देश के नीव को सुदृढ़ और सुसंगत बनाने की इस तपस्या को सार्थकता देनेवाले असंख्य शिक्षक ही संगठन की आन और शान है। जाका गुरु भी अंधला, चेला खरा निरंध। अंधई अँकौ थालिया, दोयुँ कूप परान्त।। आइए, इस कबीरवाणी को चेतावनी मानकर आपने कर्तव्य पथ पर अग्रसर हो जाएं, जिससे अपने विद्यार्थियों का सर्वांगीण विकास हो तथा देश और समाज की उत्तरोत्तर प्रगति हो ।
